Google just made Googlebooks faster, more stable, and less crash-prone

Google is rolling out its November update for Googlebook, and it includes a handful of improvements to make the platform more reliable and less frustrating to use.The biggest change is in how Googlebook handles memory used by its on-device AI services.

Google has updated its NPU driver and optimized AICore memory management, freeing up 3GB to 6GB of system RAM, as per a Reddit post by Google's Mishaal Rahman.

That’s a significant bump for laptops with 16GB of RAM, especially when jumping between a lot of apps and browser tabs.Chrome should also behave better under heavier workloads.

The update improves the way the system reclaims memory when background AI services conflict with browser processes, reducing the chances of unexpected tab reloads and crashes.

I’m almost tempted to say the update is the kind of fix that arguably should have been in place before Googlebook launched, but better late than never. The November release covers a wide range of hardware and software issues.

Convertibles should no longer lose keyboard and touchpad input when you switch between tablet and laptop modes.
